Our journey

From dairy farming to commodity trading to cargo heating management, and on to a full marine software-as-a-service provider: our journey has been challenging and exciting. Blue Water Trade Winds Pvt. Ltd. was founded by fellow mariners in 2006 for large-scale commodity trading. It took us almost two years to realize that trade winds help a vessel at sea, but not a company in Dehradun, at the foothills of the Himalayas, thousands of miles from the sea!

Scattered but still determined, in 2008 we built a product and service for optimizing cargo heating on board, and one of the leading tanker owners took it up. Within three years, most tanker owners and operators, including oil majors, were using our Cargo Heating Management (CHM) services.

Having found our strength in the marine domain, we took on a wide range of marine projects until 2015: dry-docking, PMS data transition and training on board, electronic oil record books, port captaincy, loss control and more.

In the fall of 2016 we started a project to capture the savings from virtual arrival. We soon learned that the industry needed a much broader system for optimizing and managing its fleets, so later that year we began an ambitious project: Blue Water Optimum Speed Services, or BOSS. Today BOSS has eighteen modules, built on our marine expertise and the latest AI and machine learning.

About Paarth

Paarth is the Chief Performance & Technology Officer at BlueWater and has been leading the development of BOSS since 2015. He has been instrumental in designing and implementing algorithms for weather routing, optimization and vessel modelling. He is currently pursuing his PhD in Machine Learning from University of California San Diego.

Seema Gupta

About Seema

Mrs. Gupta is tasked with managing the corporate finance department, overseeing all activities related to accounts and ensuring proper execution of functions to ensure financial transparency across the business. She is also looking after the welfare services for the company’s employees, including medical facilities, good working environment, opportunities for succession planning and OD intervention.

Ankit Saxena

About Ankit

Mr. Ankit Saxena is a technologist, with 10+ years of experience in architecting & developing various software stacks. As a technology leader, his primary role is leading the IT team for designing and developing large scale data dependent maritime applications. His responsibilities also include defining product strategy and technology roadmap, establishing operational excellence processes, success metrics and delivering highly complex software products under tight timelines and with limited resources.
