Introducing NeugenAI Learn

Supporting the learning community and helping maritime companies develop their people in the age of AI.

Blue Water is pleased to introduce NeugenAI Learn, a learning and teaching platform developed by NeugenAI with our support. It brings structured activities, AI guidance, and assessment together, and gives educators and domain experts a workspace for creating and sharing courses.

Our commitment has two purposes: to give back to the wider learning community, and to offer maritime companies a platform for developing the knowledge and skills of their teams. Both reflect our belief that progress in technology should be accompanied by opportunities for people to grow.

Why education is part of our work

Blue Water brings maritime experience, software engineering, and data science together. Through BOSS and our collaboration with NeugenAI, including AanyaX, we work on making data and AI useful to maritime organisations.

That work also informs how we think about learning. The value of a new tool depends partly on the people using it: their knowledge of the subject, their ability to interpret information, and their judgment about how to apply it. Developing those abilities is a natural extension of our work in technology.

AI creates new possibilities for that development. Learners can get explanations and guidance while they practise, and experts can get help preparing teaching materials and activities. It also changes how learning should be assessed. When AI contributes to a piece of work, a useful assessment needs to consider the learner’s understanding and decisions as well as the result.

NeugenAI Learn brings these considerations into one platform. It supports learning with AI while making room for foundational practice, clear expectations, and human expertise.

Giving back through education

We want the benefits of our work to reach beyond the organisations we serve. Supporting NeugenAI Learn is a practical way to contribute to education: a platform where people can develop skills, receive guidance, and share what they know.

Learning benefits from a clear path and timely feedback. Access to individual guidance can vary considerably, and educators have limited time to prepare activities and support every learner. We see an opportunity for AI to help extend that support, with educators shaping the learning goals and standards.

On NeugenAI Learn, courses are organised around quests with defined objectives, selected resources, and practical outcomes. An AI tutor offers contextual hints and explanations, including in the learner’s preferred language. Assessment can include tests, rubric reviews, and conversations in which learners explain their work. Mentor review supports cases that need human judgment.

The initial course, Build and Ship an AI App, is intended for learners familiar with Python, basic Git, and the command line. With Course Studio, the platform can also support experts creating courses in other subjects. Our community contribution is therefore both an opportunity to learn and an invitation to teach.

A platform for maritime training

For maritime companies, NeugenAI Learn offers a way to turn organisational expertise into structured training. Companies can develop courses around the procedures, systems, and decisions their people need to understand, and share them with a particular team or audience.

There are several reasons this matters. Valuable knowledge is often distributed across experienced colleagues and existing documents; turning it into a course makes it easier to share deliberately. New employees need opportunities to apply that knowledge as they learn. As data and AI tools become part of their work, training also needs to develop the ability to question assumptions, evaluate outputs, and explain decisions.

The platform can support company-authored activities for onboarding, understanding reporting processes, interpreting operational information, or learning to use digital tools. These activities can involve written explanations, investigations, and practical projects, alongside programming where relevant.

A company’s experts determine the content and expected standard. The platform provides the structure, guidance, and feedback through which employees can practise and demonstrate their understanding.

Helping experts create the learning experience

Course Studio gives educators and subject experts a way to develop courses with their AI assistant. They can plan learning objectives, create quests and supporting material, and define tests and assessment criteria. Private previews allow them to try the experience and review feedback before sharing it.

For a maritime company, this means its own expertise can guide the training from the outset. The course can reflect the company’s terminology, procedures, and priorities. Experts can decide which skills require independent practice, where AI assistance is useful, and how learners should demonstrate what they have learned.

Our role is to help companies explore how this approach fits their training needs. A focused starting point is one audience, a defined set of learning objectives, and a course that can be reviewed and refined with the responsible experts.

Building capability alongside technology

NeugenAI Learn extends Blue Water’s contribution from developing better tools to supporting the people who will use them. For the wider community, it creates opportunities to learn and share expertise. For maritime organisations, it offers a platform for training shaped around their own work.

We look forward to working with learners, educators, and maritime companies as this initiative develops.
